THE postponed David Shepherd Cricket Trust Golf Day at Churston could now take place in the New Year.
The annual fund-raiser for the Trust was due to take place on October 1 at the South Devon course.
Organiser Alan Swift said counter attractions were affecting entry numbers and the sensible thing to do was look for a fresh date in the New Year.
“We regret having to do this but there is no point doing lots of work for little or no return, or detracting from the enjoyment, by going ahead with a significantly reduced number of participants,” said Swift.
“A number of those who were unable to play indicated they would want to enter if the event could be rearranged to a different date.
“Several suggested holding the golf day as a pre-cricket season event – and we will consider this for 2016.
“If anyone has any views on this or other suggestions we would be delighted to hear them.
“Please email these to me (atswift@btintenet.com) or via the website info@DSCt111.org.uk
“Again, many apologies for having to cancel /postpone this year’s event. I hope people understand why it has been necessary.”
