THE David Shepherd Cricket Trust is sill inviting entries for bumper cricket-day fund-raiser at Blundell’s School.
The school has offered its facilities to the Trust for a day to run the David Shepherd Great Cricket Picnic at Blundell’s School.
The David Shepherd Cricket Trust is a charity with the simple aims of:
Helping more young people play and enjoy the great game of cricket
Helping the talented become the future stars of the game
We achieve these aims by supporting programmes and projects that help young cricketers – boys and girls – in Devon.
The Great Cricket Picnic
The grounds of Blundell’s School make the ideal setting for a picnic. We would like you to enjoy an enormous picnic by bringing friends and family with the best picnic you can create.
There will be a prize for the best picnic of the day. More importantly there will be the chance to relax on a summer’s day and enjoy your picnic while watching the great game of cricket.
There is no admission charge and everyone is welcome, whether you are playing, supporting or just picnicking.
Corporate Cricket Tournament
The eight-a-side cricket tournament is open to companies, clubs or anyone who wants to support the Trust’s work. The spirit is one of friendly competition, encouraging all to enjoy the social side of cricket and have a great day out.
It is a fantastic way to thank staff or entertain clients.
Matches are eight-a-side, although teams can bring along extra players.
The tournament is open to the first eight teams to enter. Four places have gone already, but there is room for up to four more teams.
Matches will take place simultaneously on adjoining cricket pitches at Blundell’s.
The competition will start at 10.30am and each team will play at least three games.
The final will take place at 6pm after the Great Cricket Tea. There will be a trophy for the winners to put on display.
The entry fee is £500 per team.
Side-by-side with the eight-a-side tournament, a youth competition will be running on another of the pitches on the Blundell’s campus.
Teams junior players from the four Districts in Devon will be playing each other in a pairs tournament.

The Great Cricket Tea
At 5pm just before the final, we will be running what we hope will be the biggest cricket tea in the country this summer.
All the players – adult and junior – will be invited to join us for tea. We hope every supporter and spectator who has been part of the day will come and enjoy an enormous cricket tea.
Tea will be taken in the marquee next to the cricket pitch. Cakes, sandwiches, scones and teas will be the order of the day.
Tea will be free for all players. Just £5 for everyone else.
Can you help?
As a charity we are reliant on the help and support of volunteers. Could you help us on the day by selling cakes and teas in the pavilion, or with preparations for the Great Cricket Tea? Or could you score
