Trust helps umpire pursue Premier dream

THE David Shepherd Cricket Trust is helping new umpire Daniel Midgley towards his aim of becoming a Premier Division official.

Daniel, who lives in Plymouth, has passed entry qualifications, but until he completes further courses can’t officiate in Premier and A Division Devon League games,

The next course is at Heathcoat in the New Year and the Trust has given Daniel £50 towards the £150 course costs.

“I am a recently qualified umpire, officiating throughout Devon in the youth games, ladies and Devon League B and C Division games,” said Daniel.

“I would like to progress to stand in the A & Premier Division and completion of the course gives me that opportunity.”

The Trust is keen to support umpire training in Devon, especially where there is youth involvement by the applicant.
